Vårt navn

maybachWilhelm Maybach, som ga skolen vår navnet, ble født 1846 i Heilbronn. Han var mange år forretningspartner og mesteraktig bilkonstruktør fra firmaet Gottlieb Daimler (foregjenger av Mercedes Benz). Han fant mange smarte problemløsninger i bilkonstruksjonen, løsninger som fortsatt er i bruk per dags dato! 1909 grunnlagte han med sin sønn, Karl Maybach firmaet Maybach Motorenbau GmbH (AS) som produserte zeppeliner og senere luksuslimousiner. Et av disse Maybach biler, en SW 38, ble rekonstruert av lærere og elever av vårt skole i et prosjekt som tok oss i beslag over mange år. Originaldelene ble plukket opp fra over hele europa!
